Siteinspire

I founded Siteinspire in 2009 as a simple showcase of websites I admired. Sixteen years later it's one of the design community's longest-running curated galleries — thousands of sites reviewed and published, referenced by designers and studios worldwide.

The current iteration is a ground-up rebuild in Next.js with PostgreSQL. The previous version had been untouched for nearly a decade, which is a polite way of saying it was held together with string. The rebuild preserved what worked — the editorial voice, the tagging taxonomy, the emphasis on craft over trends — and modernised everything underneath.

Curating Siteinspire for this long gave me something I didn't expect: an education in what makes interfaces work. When you look at thousands of websites with a critical eye, you internalise patterns — typography choices that create hierarchy, layouts that guide attention, colour palettes that set mood. That accumulated taste now informs every product I build.

I still run it. New sites go up regularly. The submission queue never empties. It's the project I'm most proud of, not because it's technically complex, but because it's lasted.
